Hemorrhoid is a condition in which the veins in the rectum or the anus dilate and harden. This can occur inside the anus and/or lower rectum (internal hemorrhoid) or outside and around the anal region (exterior hemorrhoid) of the body. This condition eases out in many instances with simple treatments. Many may not even be aware that may be having hemorrhoid until they feel pain. Generally, the internal hemorrhoids do not cause much pain unless they distend themselves and protrude outside the anus. The intensity of the pain is greater in case of formation of a clot in these veins.
How to Treat Hemorrhoids
There is no one stop shop solution for treating hemorrhoids. A combination of steps needs to be taken if you wish to get rid of this embarrassing condition for good.
Fill your bathtub with warm water, add 12 drops of tea tree oil and then soak the affected area for fifteen to twenty minutes. To get the best result, you can repeat this many times daily. Dry gently by dabbing with; normal bath towel will irritate due to friction.
When you feel the need to have a bowel movement, do not wait too long to relieve yourself; visit the toilet immediately.
Sitting tool long in the toilet should be avoided as you may try and build up pressure to ease constipated feeling which, in turn, may irritate the swollen veins.
Do not scratch when you feel itching sensation; you may numb the pain with cold presses (not rubs) or suitable pad containing ingredients like witch hazel.
A number of products containing natural ingredients effective for treatment of hemorrhoid are available in the market. Look for ingredients like the horse chestnut tree, butcher broom tree and the pagoda trees, Witch hazel, aloe, etc.
It is important to remember that to help fight off hemorrhoid, you have to prevent constipation. Include more fiber (at least 25 to 30 grams per day) in the diet by taking Fresh fruits, leafy vegetables and whole-grain breads and cereals. Also make it a habit to drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses daily). Drinks like coffee and alcohol promote encourage removal of water from the body, hence avid them. Laxatives should be avoided.
Often the working conditions of many persons require them to sit for long hours, a condition ideal for encouraging hemorrhoids. Take short break of around 10 minutes every hour.
Treating hemorrhoid condition as early as possible will not only help get faster relief, it will also stop them from becoming a serious health concern which could lead to surgery.
